Home Business Idea – Corporate Blogging

Yesterday I commented on an article about Wasted Ads that appeared in Simplenomics. Well, Mike must be smokin’ something because he followed that up with another great article entitled “How Bloggers Can Make More Money”.
Now, Mike is speaking from experience cause he’s making a nice chunk of change blogging for companies.
Remember, one of the things you want as a business owner is Multiple Sources of Income. You should exploit every revenue-generating idea you can think of with your blog. A little here and a little there can add up to a mortgage payment – or more – before you know it.
If you’re one of my readers who is still struggling with the “What Should I Do?” question, really study Mike’s article. Heck, you can start a blog or free if you’re really broke! Starting a blog in your local area – or for a very tight niche – is a great way to get your entrepreneurial juices flowing without risking a lot of money.
And, if you are currently operating a blog, take a step back and see if you can add company-sponsored ads to the mix. You might even think about doing advertorials on companies rather than blatant ads. Your readers will pay more attention and you, in turn, may be able to charge more.
Lots of ideas here….just put your thinking cap on. Feel free to post your comments and ideas below.
Making Home Business Lemonade

Life happens….whether it’s in operating your home business or living your life. How you react to the stresses and roadblocks placed in your way, will have a direct impact on your successful your home business becomes.
For instance, yesterday I headed back down to St. Pete Beach for about ten more days. My folks condo is exactly 121 miles – driveway to driveway – from our home. The drive usually takes between 1 1/2 and 2 hours depending on traffic.
It’s actually a pretty simple drive – Take the 417 tollway to I-4 to 275.
But it’s not always an easy drive. Yesterday it took 4 1/2 hours.
They’ve been working on I-4 as long as I can remember and that, combined with a rainstorm laid the foundation for not one – but two – serious accidents.
Rather than get mad because this was screwing up my plans, I first said a prayer for the people in those accidents and thanked God that I was safe, albeit sitting in an immovable block on cars. (I learned later that one of the accidents resulted in a fatality…I am sure that person would have be grateful to be in traffic for 4 1/2 hours.)
So, I tried to think how I could take advantage of this “bonus” time for myself.
I got out to meet my car “neighbors”. The guy behind me, Tom, said he makes this trip 2–3 times a week and it’s always bad. He’s in sales and mentioned that it just depresses him that he’ll have to do this another 20 years until he retires. Of course, he and I exchanged business cards and I shared with him that there are alternatives out there that may be of interest to him.
Couldn’t work on the computer, as I’d forgotten to bring my car adaptor. Then, I remembered the book, “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield, which I’d just bought for my trip. What a perfect opportunity to start reading this book.
I had a deja vu moment reading this passage:
On Page 7, it said, “If You Don’t Like Your Outcomes, Change Your Responses” and gave an example of a CNN reporter interviewing people sitting in traffic after the 1994 earthquakes in California, where many of the main thoroughfares had been damaged. While most complained about the traffic and frustrated in their incapacity, one guy had a smile on his face. He knew there wasn’t anything he could do about the traffic, so he decided to take advantage of a situation he couldn’t change. He had a thermos of coffee, Spanish tapes (he was trying to learn the language), the newspaper and some CD’s.
So, what ingredients do YOU need to make Home Business Lemonade?
* Know up front that just because success can be simple, it’s not always easy.
* Be prepared for obstacles thrown in your path. Where are your weaknesses? What could go wrong? Who / what should you have at your disposal in case these obstacles show up?
* Remember that your ATTITUDE has us much to do with your success as your talents.
* Stick to your goal. It might take you longer to get there, but if you don’t take your eye off the target, you’ll make it eventually!

Make Quck Money as a Transcriptionist
If you are someone who really wants to start a business, but is strapped for cash to start, here’s a potential solution for you.
Or…if you’re a networker who is tired of hearing the “It sounds good, but I don’t have any money” EXCUSE, here is a great place to steer your prospects and see if they are serious or wasting your time.
I actually found this website through a forum post which talked about good places to have audios transcribed into reports and ebooks. In reviewing the site, I noticed they were looking for transcriptionists on a per-audio basis.
Now, I have not used this company but, based on the forum comments, they seem legitimate.
There appears to be no start up cost and someone can do as much or little work as they wish. This would especially work well for programs costing less than $150 to start, as they should be able to amass that amount within a week or less.
UPDATE: The above link no longer goes to the site I wrote about above. Instead, it goes to Amazon’s Mechanical Turk, another way to make some quick money. I’ll be doing an article specifically on Mechanical Turk shortly.
The Power of Networking

Last week I had an incredible adventure in New York City and all of it was courtesy of networking.
Whether your business is under the network marketing umbrella or not, the art of networking is one that everyone should master.
The purpose of my trip was a business meeting about working with an international businessman opening several US-based companies. He found me from a mutual friend who recommended me to him.
Now I met this mutual friend at an Internet marketing seminar in 2003. I was attending – he was a speaker – and we became friends and business partners through the years. I was invited to the event from another business acquaintance. (Actually, she and I met when we were roomies at an invitation-only leadership conference.)
The second part of my trip was the mixing pleasure with business part. I have some very good friends who live in New York City and quickly made plans with them when I learned my evening was free. I happened to meet this couple through the same woman, but during a group cruise. (By the way, if you ever want to have a great cruise experience, I know the guy!)
A lot of people question attending seminars or other events. If I had not attended that event – over four years ago – many of my business dealings would not have surfaced. Because it was through the networking of all these individuals that I’ve met other people ….and on and on it goes.
If you are not taking advantage of networking events, start today. It can be a local women’s or leads club , or a national or international seminar. The power of online marketing and email communication will never replace the opportunity to meet in person, shake their hands, and look them in the eyes.

Functional beverage formula fuses mangosteen, aloe and other ingredients; XALO Juice to be introduced this summer in the European market
LEHI, UT, March 29, 2007 — XANGO, LLC Co-Founder and Chief Marketing Officer Gordon Morton today announced the company has created a new formula, which will be marketed under the brand name, XALO™ Juice (pronounced zay-lo) and introduced this summer in Europe. Morton said XALO Juice, a proprietary fusion of aloe with mangosteen and other premium ingredients, expands XANGO’s leadership of the mangosteen supplement category, which the company created in 2002. Sales of XANGO® Juice, the company’s flagship product, continue to surge worldwide.
“XANGO’s exclusive XALO Juice formula combines the acclaim of aloe with our fresh mangosteen discovery to offer consumers a combination of great taste and vibrant nutritional benefits in a complete and complex functional beverage,” said Morton. “XALO Juice arrives with this exceptional formula as a distinctly branded premium product.”
XANGO will introduce XALO Juice in the pilot markets of Germany, Belgium and Austria this summer (see www.xalojuice.com).
“XANGO has received a phenomenal reception by the German people since we introduced our flagship product, XANGO Juice, in Germany last fall,” said Morton. “Growth of our German distributors is far ahead of projections. The introduction of XALO Juice empowers XANGO to expand the reach of the mangosteen category and meet the growing demands of the German market.”
In addition to the primary ingredients of aloe and mangosteen, XALO Juice contains grape seed and green tea. Through this proprietary blend of some of the world’s most celebrated botanicals, consumers may receive the following nutritional and antioxidant benefits with XALO Juice: support of digestive health and cleansing; revitalization and regeneration of healthy skin; improvement in proper absorption of vital nutrients; and a boost of natural energy levels. The recommended daily intake of XALO Juice is 1-3 ounces.
Morton said XALO Juice fits seamlessly into XANGO’s pricing model and compensation plan. XALO Juice will be sold by the case – four 750ml bottles.
